Darwen Town Council is looking for an individual or company to put up flags over the summer.

The flags will go up on or before 20 June 2026 and stay up through the summer before being taken down at a later date (to be determined).

Requirements

The successful applicant must:

• Have public liability insurance to cover the work and be able to show proof to the Town Council.
• Be able to carry out the work at times that won’t disturb businesses and the public — before 08:00 or after 19:00.
• Have the necessary equipment to carry out the works safely, including a ladder and any other appropriate equipment.

Nature of the Work

• Collect approximately 50 flags from Darwen Town Hall and store them until the work is carried out.
• The flags are on poles — place them in the holders attached to buildings in and around the town centre area.
• Once the specified time period ends, take down all the flags, bundle them up and return them to the Town Hall.
• A member of the Town Council will meet with the successful applicant to hand over and collect the flags. A walkthrough of sites can also be arranged.

How to Apply

We expect applicants to calculate the cost of the work beforehand and provide a guaranteed quote. The fee is negotiable, however Darwen Town Council has a duty to provide the best value possible to the Precept payer.
